As Otherworld is a participant-driven event meant to showcase the incredible talent of the Victoria Burning Man community we encourage participants to contribute art, in all its myriad forms. For this reason we provide PARTicipation grants (funded by ticket revenues) in order to make it more accessible.

We challenge you to create something that will inspire, engage, question, puzzle, amuse, seduce and otherwise influence your fellow creators of Otherworld. Interactive art is our particular obsession. Interactive work convenes society around itself. It generates roles. It provokes actions. It transforms participants into active contributors to a creative process. So show us what ya got!

What do PARTicipation Grants cover?

Grants are given to cover the cost of materials and transport. Please note that we do not reimburse the cost of labour.

What are the criteria by which applications are judged??

There is a six-point set of critera and five physcial requirements that all grated art must meet. Please see the PARTicipation Grant Criteria page for more information.

Ownership and Rights to Artwork

If you recieve funding for art for Otherworld, you retain ownership and all rights to the artwork. However, you are expected to make an appointment with the Art Team to have photos taken of the art. BurnVic will retain the right to use these photographs and a description of the project for promotional purposes.

NOTE: Even if you aren't requesting funding for anything, please fill out this form if you intend to bring an art piece to Otherworld, so that we know it is coming!
