Location

Otherworld 2009 will be held approximately 25 minutes outside of Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island (1.5 hours from Victoria). Some driving on a gravel road will be required.

The land is a privately-owned hobby farm/campsite in the midst of the British Columbia rain forest.

As this is a wilderness campsite, there are relatively few amenities offered. Otherworld is providing portapotty service, but there are no showers, running water, or electricity available. (Note: If your project requires electricity, please consider bringing a generator, or work with another group to share a generator.)

Please bring everything you need for a 3-day camping trip including all food, water, and shelter. There will be nothing for sale at Otherworld, so you need to bring everything!

Some important things to remember:

  • Parking is limited, please carpool!
  • No pets are allowed on site. This is an active hobby farm and outside pets are not permitted.
  • RVs will not be allowed on-site except where they are required for theme camps or for persons with disabilities. If you would like to bring an RV, please contact Ashes@csto.org.
  • This is a LEAVE NO TRACE event. There will be no garbage service - please take all of your trash and personal belongings with you when you leave.
